Edelrid HMS Bulletproof Carabiner – Built to Last
The HMS Bulletproof Screw is Edelrid’s answer to a persistent problem: standard aluminium carabiners wear through at the apex from constant rope friction. The Bulletproof solves this with a steel insert at the top of the carabiner – the exact point where rope and bolt hangers cause the most damage. The result is a hybrid that gives you the lightness of aluminium with the durability of steel where it matters most.
In real use this means no rope grooves forming after a season of sustained belaying, no grey aluminium deposits on your rope, and a carabiner that outlasts a standard HMS by a significant margin.
The internal spring bar is the other key feature. It holds the carabiner correctly oriented on your belay loop, eliminating the risk of cross-loading during a belay – a genuine safety advantage at awkward multipitch stances or when things get busy at an anchor.
