Yamet & The Gear Thrills Cycling Club, Dimapur

Some connections begin quietly… through a phone call, a broken cycle, or the kindness of someone you’ve never met before.

I met Yamet Phom during my cycling expedition across Northeast India. In a small town called Mezdiphema, Nagaland, I found myself stuck… my crank had broken, the clock was ticking, and the journey was hanging in the balance.

I called a stranger.
That stranger was Yamet.
He simply said, “I’ll take care of it.”
And he did.

That one moment turned into something larger…  not just a rescue, but the start of a connection I still carry with me.

In this episode, I sit down with Yamet, the co-founder of Gear Thrills Cycling Club (GTCC) in Dimapur. We talk about how the club came to life, the cycling movement in Nagaland, and what it means to build something from the ground up in a place that’s rarely in the spotlight.

We also explore life in Nagaland… its rhythms, stories, and transitions. From food and music to roads and roots, this is a window into a part of India that often stays off the map.

This episode is about more than cycling.
It’s about people.
It’s about place.
It’s about showing up.
